The Rails system in Minecraft is actually pretty primitive when compared to even the most
basic real-world train track, and the popular Railcraft mod sets that wrong right, and then
some. It adds all manner of new tracks and cart items, as well as fixing some pesky issues
with Minecarts, such as making the physics more realistic. It sounds simple, but the things
you can do with Railcraft get quite complex and can lead to some really amazing automated
builds, as well doing some fun things like giving you a new way to dig cool looking tunnels
for trains and giving you a “Launch Track,” which does just what it sounds like it would.
