In-Depth Information
The matches themselves are set in an arena that is decently sized and typically contains
all destructible blocks, which makes Wizards somewhat unique to PVP matches, which
often feature indestructible arenas. Wizards arenas are like this because the powers at the
disposal of each wizard in the match are mighty forces of nature that tend to explode and
cause area damage, and part of the fun of Wizards matches is that the explosions wreck
the environment as the match goes along. And, since the gravity is much lower in Wizards
matches, you can jump just about anywhere, making every block in the arena part of the
battleground. By the time a winner is announced, the whole arena will be in glorious ruins.
The combat in Wizards is a little different from many such fast-paced PVP mini-games;
although your spells have spectacular effects and do damage in an area, each wizard is ac-
tually pretty tough to kill and will not go down without more than a couple direct hits.
Additionally, you aren't just trying to kill your enemies, you're also trying to walk on two
different command points so that you capture them for your team. If enemy players are on
the command point, they will start capturing it for their team instead, and the more players
from one team on the command point, the more likely it is to go to that team. Once it's
been captured, the other team has to keep enemy players off it to capture it back, otherwise
it will keep going fully back to the team that last captured it.
Points rack up for a team based on the amount of time a command point has been owned by
that team, and when one team reaches 2,000 points, they win this mighty struggle of magic
users.
Wizards is as chaotic as it gets, but its balance of excellent unique classes, destructible ter-
rain, low gravity, heavily armored players and the PVP + command points structure makes
for one of the best PVP experiences in the world of Minecraft.
