Skins, Resource Packs And Shaders:
Making Your Minecraft Pretty
Minecraft is rather unique among games- this is something all players
know. One way that it is unique that can sometimes go overlooked,
however, is that Minecraft's structure of being mostly blocks with tex-
tures on them allows the look of Minecraft to be customized to a degree
that few other games have ever seen. Because players and creative folk
out in the world can basically take that blocky structure and create their
own textures to lay over it, the exact same world and characters can be
changed in nearly infinite ways to look differently, making for perhaps
the most customizable visuals in any game ever created.
There are three basic components to Minecraft's visuals that can be customized: skins, tex-
ture or “resource” packs, and the trickier, but oh so awesome shaders. If you're looking to
pretty up your Minecraft game and create an entirely unique look that can sometimes change
even a standard Minecraft landscape into something worthy of a million screenshots, here's
how you do that.
