Project Zomboid
How it's like Minecraft:
Survival in a sandbox world kicked up to the max, with the ex-
pectation of death, plus a good amount of item hunting and crafting, with a little building
thrown in.
On the opposite end of both the kid-friendly spectrum and the creation-focused spectrum
from
Roblox
is the harrowing and stressful zombie survival game
Project Zomboid.
You
won't be doing much building in
PZ,
except to board up windows and doors to keep the
walkers out, but what you certainly will be doing is desperately fending off hunger, depres-
sion, panic, illness and thirst as you struggle to survive in a world overrun by zombie hordes.
A game that's still in early-access, meaning it's not complete yet,
PZ
is one of the most
promising survival games and zombie games out right now. While it's still getting many of
the kinks worked out and features implemented, what is complete of this game is already
super exciting to play.
In
Project Zomboid
you are a user-created character that finds themselves the only survivor
in the Hardin and Meade County areas of Kentucky. The game is designed after real-life loc-
ations in the counties, including the towns of Muldraugh and West Point, and you have to
navigate the giant, zombie-infested area trying to gather enough supplies to survive.
PZ
does not make this easy. In fact, it's almost impossible. Everything is measured in
PZ,
down to your levels of stress and panic, your blood amount, what parts of your body are
damaged and how, and every action is recorded and causes a giant skill pool to be upgraded.
At first it seems easy, but as you run out of supplies in the area around your spawn point, you
will quickly have to move on to other areas, and you risk major injury or worse every time
you set foot outside of a house. You're not even safe in houses, to be frank. And this is all
not to even mention how hard it gets when the electricity and water shut off after a random
amount of time.
