In-Depth Information
With gaming being bigger than it ever has been, it's the ideal time for game-based
YouTubers to make their mark, and Dan believes things are only going to get bigger for
video games. “I think the gaming industry is really at a peak right now with the Internet
being so powerful in the creation and growth of video games,” he said. “You don't have to
be a big developer with a huge team any more to create a smash hit game, just an idea and
the passion to put it together, just like with Minecraft. I'd say the industry will continue to
grow with the importance of the internet and I also think eSports are another huge way of
getting gaming out to the masses.”
For those who think YouTube Creator sounds like a fun job, Dan has a lot of encouraging
advice, telling kids who are looking to start their own channel, “Make sure you're having
fun doing what you do. If you aren't having fun making a video, your viewers will be able
to tell. So as long as you are having fun doing YouTube then keep at it! Getting popular
doesn't happen overnight so be patient, and maybe you'll find one of your great creations
go far!”
And don't worry if you don't know what you're doing right away; Dan learned his skills on
the job! “The whole process of starting a YouTube channel with limited knowledge of how
it works and the programs/games you are working with is really fascinating, so starting
from knowing everything really wouldn't be the same. The best part of being a YouTuber
is that you can create whatever you want, while learning new skills all the time.”
Though it only takes one look at a TheDiamondMinecart video to see that Dan is a young
man with heaps of both talent and personality, he is nothing but humble and appreciative
about his success, telling us, “I am very privileged to be able to have [TheDiamondMine-
cart] as my full time job.”
Whether you're a gamer, have another interest or simply want to talk to the world, YouTube
is a place where you can start sharing your thoughts with almost no set up and at no cost,
making it one of the most accessible entertainment industries in history. All you need is a
free channel, a way to record, a little software, an idea, and some time. And who knows?
You might just be the next YouTube star that all the kids are talking about.
