It was very difficult to stick it [the hardware] into that brief-
case.” The portable computer had a flat aluminum top panel
with the keyboard on the bottom and the digital cassette drive
and plasma display occupying the top left and top right of the
panel, respectively.
Edwards demonstrated the
MCM
/70 Executive to the atten-
dees of the Congress on the very first day. The computer at-
tracted the attention of not only the
APL
ers gathered at the Con-
gress but also of the Danish daily
Politiken
, which on 23 August
reported enthusiastically about the presentation in a front page
article “Computer i en kuffert,” giving a detailed description of
the “revolutionary computer.” The photographs taken for the
Politiken
article depicted Edwards operating the
MCM
/70 on
the Technical University of Denmark's campus where the
APL
congress was taking place.
But it was Kutt who skillfully exploited the
Politiken
article
to give the
MCM
computer wide European exposure, arran-
ging press conferences, interviews, and trade presentations in
France, Germany, Holland, Italy, Switzerland, and the United
Kingdom, including the unveiling of the
MCM
/70 at the Can-
