This
MCM
/70 computer is one of the first production models manu-
factured by
MCM
at its Kingston plant. It was used for internal ap-
plications at
MCM

The
MCM
/70 was also designed to work with peripherals. It
could drive a printer and later, with the introduction of the im-
proved model /700 in 1975, a range of other peripherals such as
external displays (the
VDU
-2480 and
VDU
-9620), floppy-disk
drive systems (the
SDS
-250 and
DDS
-500), a punch card reader
(the
PMR
-400), and a modem (for models equipped with the
SCI
-1200 Communications subsystem). The
MCM
/700 could
have as much as 32K of
ROM
(containing
EASY
,
AVS
, and an
improved
MCM
/
APL
language) and could use one of the disk-
drive systems for virtual memory, due to some clever design de-
cisions made by André Arpin when he was still working on the
