it. However, I told the board of

wasn't prepared to go ahead with this unless I had major-
ity control.
Woods figured that once he was the majority shareholder,
it would be easy to buy the remaining shares. In the end, his
shares would have translated into 10 per cent shareholding in
the new re-financed
MCM
, with the rest of the shares going to
the British investor group. “A little bit devious on my part,” ex-
plained Woods, “but nevertheless it was a solid recovery plan.”
