illustrating the key steps used for generating the images.
3.3. Data Extraction
from Susceptibility-
Weighted Images
Various datasets can be extracted from the SWI-rendered images.
SAH lesion volumes, local phase measurements, and brain volumes
are among a range of parameters that can be obtained. Typically,
we use phase measurements (phase in radians from the SWI) to
evaluate the presence of blood, where reduced phase would be
indicative of local iron or blood products. One can use SPIN soft-
ware (see above) or free software, such as NIH Image to draw
these regions of interest.
