In-Depth Information
Table 1. The interpretation time of each topic (unit:
sec.).
Table 2.
The average satisfaction score of each topic.
Table 3.
The parameters calibration results.
the interpretation time of each topic can be identi-
fied as shown in Table 1. The total time spent on a
guided walk was around 1 to 1.5 hr. The topics that
took the longest average time were “causes for the
formation of mushroom rocks” and “causes for
the formation of candle shaped rocks” whereas the
topic that took the shortest average time was “the
characteristics of Agar”. This result makes sense
because mushroom rocks and candle shaped rocks
are the most significant geological landscapes in
the park.
*Significance level of 5%.
4.3 Satisfaction of each topic
For understanding the relative importance and the
performance of each topic, respondents are asked
to score their perceived importance and satisfac-
tion for the interpretation topics from 1 to 100
under a pre-given scoring reference as mentioned
in Section 2.2. The result of the investigation of
satisfaction is shown in Table 2 and Table 3.
Based on the observation of the average satis-
faction score in Table 2, one may find that “the
statue of Tianzhen Lin” receives the highest score.
The second highest satisfaction score is obtained
by “Queen's Head Shaped Rock”. “Causes for the
formation of mushroom rocks” is the third satis-
fied topic.
4.4 The time-satisfaction relationships
A tendency analysis illustrated on Figure 1 shows
a positive correlation between interpretation time
and satisfaction among the 17 interpretation top-
ics of Yehliu Geopark.
Table 3 shows the results of calibrating the
parameters in Equation 1. Theoretically, r is
positively related to the marginal effect of inter-
pretation time. The higher value of r , the higher
marginal contribution brought by interpretation
time to satisfaction.
