A few dependable midrange chain motels and hotels are found off I-80 exits. A new hostel

About a mile west of Sugar Bowl, this cozy Sierra Club-owned rustic mountain lodge puts
you near major ski resorts and sleeps up to 140 people in dorms and family rooms. Rates
include family-style meals, but you're expected to do small chores and bring your own
sleeping bag, towel and swimsuit (for the hot tub!).
In winter, go cross-country skiing or snowshoeing, or careen down the sledding hill out
back.
Donner Memorial State Park Campground CAMPGROUND

Near Donner Lake, this family-oriented campground has 138 campsites with flush toilets
and hot pay-showers.

Conveniently located along Hwy 89 (though with street noise) are three minimally deve-
loped riverside camping areas: Granite Flat, Goose Meadow and Silver Creek. All have
potable water and vault toilets.
