West of town on Hwy 49 are a string of beautiful campsites. Most have vault toilets, run-
ning water and unreserved sites along the Yuba River. Of these, the prettiest is
Fiddlecreek , which has tent-only sites right on the river.

A great option if you want to come with biking buddies or a family, this circle of tidy,
modernized cabins is along a sublime stretch of river open to fly fishing with big lawns for
the kids to play. The basic camping cabins, which are BYO sleeping bag and have shared
bathrooms, sleep four tightly.

This renovated homey inn has country-style charms, which include rockers and river
views. Two rooms share a shower.
Sierra Shangri-La CABINS, HOTEL

Three miles east of Downieville on Hwy 49, in July and August these secluded, riverside
cabins are usually booked with standing reservations, but rooms - each with a balcony
overlooking the river - are often available.
