In the Southern Pacific railroad depot at the north end of Lincoln Way, it has lots of useful
local info and a monument to the Transcontinental Railroad nearby.

Getting There & Away
Amtrak ( 800-872-7245; www.amtrak.com ; 277 Nevada St) runs one bus a day along the Cap-
ital Corridor route ( http://capitolcorridor.org ) linking Auburn with Sacramento ($16, one
hour), the rest require connecting to Bay Area and Central Valley trains. There is also one
bus-train daily east to Reno ($61, six hours).
The Gold Country Stage ( 888-660-7433; www.goldcountrystage.com ; adult$1.50-3, child
free) links Auburn, including its Amtrak station, with Grass Valley and Nevada City five
times a day on weekdays, no service weekends. It takes 30 to 50 minutes and kids and
bikes ride free.
Amtrak's California Zephyr stops in Auburn on its daily run between the Bay Area and
Chicago via Reno and Denver (to San Francisco takes three hours and costs $35).
