After standing vacant for years, this historic tower reopened after a stylish facelift that ad-
ded an upscale restaurant and two bars that instantly became the places for cocktails in
Bakersfield. The standard rooms have lavish details: thick mattresses, plush sheets and de-
signer furniture. The two themed suites - the 'Oil Baron' and 'Farmer's Daughter' - have
sexy showers for two.

Lined with black-and-white photos of sporting legends, this amazing lunch spot has been
around more than 100 years. The stuffed chicken melts in your mouth and the excellent
bakery turns out soft, buttery rolls and an exceedingly rich Butterfinger Pie. The adjacent
bar and deli stay open until 4pm.

Perched on the pink stools at the counter, families dig into homemade ice cream with in-
