In-Depth Information
This 1862 rambling, ramshackle hotel has small, rustic rooms with quilts, historic photos
and river views - all have tons of character but none have attached bathrooms. Ask (or
don't ask) for the room haunted by George. Explore the building to find giant stuffed
moose heads, old girly calendars, old rusty saws and so much more.
Onsite are a friendly locals' bar, a dancehall, and a restaurant (with sporadic opening
hours especially in winter) that specializes in prime rib.

Old Lewiston Inn B&B B&B
( 530-778-3385; www.theoldlewistoninn.com ; Deadwood Rd; r/ste $110/200; )
The prettiest place in town and right beside the river, this B&B is in an 1875 house and
serves country-style breakfasts. Enjoy the hot tub, or ask about all-inclusive fly-fishing
packages. There's one two-bedroom suite, which is great for families.
Trinity (Clair Engle) Lake
Placid Trinity Lake, California's third-largest reservoir, sits beneath dramatic snowcapped
alps north of Lewiston Lake. In the off season it is serenely quiet, but it attracts multitudes
in the summer, who come for swimming, fishing and other water sports. Most of the camp-
grounds, RV parks, motels, boat rentals and restaurants line the west side of the lake.

530-286-2201; www.pinewoodcove.com ; 45110 Hwy 3; tent/
RV sites $29/46, cabins $98-158;

provide bed linens.
