hangout on the banks of a clear mountain stream. Locals come for the day and visitors
from afar come for weeks. Henry Stewart founded these springs in 1875 after Native
Americans revived him from a near-death experience. He attributed his recovery to the
healthful properties of the mineral waters, said to draw toxins out of the body.
Today you can soak in a private claw-foot tub or steam in the dry-wood sauna. Other
perks include massage, body wraps, meditation, a Native American sweat lodge and a
riverside sunbathing deck. You'll want to call ahead to be sure there is space in the steam
and soaking rooms, especially on busy weekends. Dining and

north of Mt Shasta City on I-5, past Weed to the Edgewood exit, then turn left at Stewart
Springs Rd and follow the signs.
