In-Depth Information
Like a stranger you feel you've met before, this earthy spot feels warmly familiar, all the
more lovable when you consider its commitment to serving local produce. Choose from
regional beef burgers, salmon sushi, a slew of panini (many veggie) and rice bowls. It's
hopping with locals drinking craft brews, kids running around and lots of hugging.
Morning Thunder Café BREAKFAST
(557 Lawrence St; meals $9-16; 7am-2pm; )
Homey and hip, this is the best place in town for breakfast, and the vine-shaded patio is a
lovely way to start the day. The menu is mainly, though not exclusively, vegetarian. Try
the vegetaters: roasted veg and potatoes smothered in cheese, the chicken avocado 'thun-
der melt,' or the 'drunken pig,' which brilliantly balances savory pork and pineapple.
Moon's ITALIAN
( 530-283-0765; 497 Lawrence St; mains $13-24; 5-9pm Tue-Sun)
Follow the aroma of garlic to this welcoming little chalet with a charming ambience. Dig
into choice steaks and Italian-American classics, including excellent pizza and rich
lasagna.
Sweet Lorraine's CALIFORNIAN
(384 Main St; meals $12-28; lunch Mon-Fri, dinner Mon-Sat)
On a warm day - or, better yet, evening - the patio here is especially sweet. The menu fea-
tures light Californian cuisine (fish, poultry, soups and salads), but it's also known for its
award-winning St Louis ribs. Finish things off with the whiskey bread pudding.
Drunk Brush WINE BAR
( www.facebook.com/TheDrunkBrush ; 438 Main St; 2-7pm Mon-Wed, 2-10pm Thu & Fri, 2-8pm Sat)
A sweet little courtyard wine bar that pours 25 wines and a few beers. Sample delicious
appetizer pairings in a welcoming, arty atmosphere.
