Sure, a curmudgeonly local might call it the Hippie Fest, but it's pretty tame in compar-
ison to some of Northern California's true fringe festivals. If you plan to attend, reserve a
room or campsite a couple of months in advance. For those who don't want to camp in
nearby national forest land, Susanville, one hour away, will have the largest number of
rooms.

With antique timber pillars, white-painted brick walls, old barn-style doors and the occa-
sional wagon wheel for decoration, this friendly motel (in the eastern half of town) defin-
itely has a Mexican ranch feel. Inside, rooms are modern, freshly painted and very com-
fortable for the price. The motel offers plenty more choices on the wooded land that ex-
tends back a few acres.
Pine Hill Motel MOTEL

A mile west of downtown Quincy, this little hotel is protected by an army of statues and
surrounded by a big lawn. The units are nothing fancy, but they're clean and in a constant
state of renovation. Each is equipped with microwave, coffeemaker and refrigerator; some
cabins have full kitchens.
Feather River Canyon Campgrounds CAMPGROUND

Area campgrounds are administered through the Mt Hough Ranger District Office . They
are in a cluster along the north fork of the Feather River west of Quincy - five are no-fee,
but also have no piped water. All are first come, first served.
