In-Depth Information
A favorite for tents and RVs, Rocky Point Campground is right on the lake, with some
sites basically on the beach. For something more remote, try the Cool Springs Camp-
ground at the Butt Reservoir (try to say that with a straight face!). It's at the south end of
the lake, at the end of Prattville Butt Reservoir Rd.
These campgrounds lie within the surrounding Lassen and Plumas National Forests on
the lake's southwest shore. Sites tend to be more tranquil than the RV-centric private
campgrounds that are right on the water.

Two miles east of Chester on Hwy 36, these expansive, forested grounds stretch for a mile
along the water, and get filled up with mostly RVs. Ranch-style cabins have kitchens and
are great for families. This place is fine if you want to spend all your time waterskiing on
the lake, but those seeking the solitude of nature should look elsewhere.
Knotty Pine Resort & Marina CABINS

boats, kayaks and canoes.

This is the locals' favorite place to eat in the region hands down - even folks from Susan-
ville drive the 32 miles to get here, with pleasure, for the excellent Sicillian-style lasagne,
yummy pizzas and meatball or caprese sandwiches at lunch time. It's lively, friendly and
you can eat and imbibe outside in summer. Reserve ahead for dinner.
