and comfortable, old-world rooms of mixed quality. The rooms in front are an excellent
perch for people-watching on the square, but the quietest face the back.

Roses line the walkway to this 1888 mansion full of Victorian bric-a-brac. The frilly rooms

Eating
Great food abounds in restaurants throughout Arcata, almost all casual.
There are fantastic farmers markets , at the Arcata Plaza ( GOOGLE MAP ; 9am-2pm
Sat Apr-Nov) and in the parking lot of Wildberries Market. Just a few blocks north of down-
town, there is a cluster of the town's best restaurants on G St.

Wildberries Marketplace is Arcata's best grocery, with natural foods, a good deli, bakery

The gigantic North Coast Co-op carries organic foods and is a community staple; check
the kiosk out front.
