Miranda Gardens Resort RESORT

chen $165-300, without kitchen $115-200; )
The best indoor stay along the avenue. The cozy, dark, slightly rustic cottages have red-
wood paneling, some with fireplaces, and are spotlessly clean. The grounds - replete with
outdoor ping pong and a play area for kids and swaying redwoods - have wholesome ap-
peal for families.
Chimney Tree AMERICAN
(1111 Avenue of the Giants, Phillipsville; burgers $7-11; 10am-7pm May-Sep)
If you're just passing through and want something quick, come here. It raises its own
grass-fed beef. Alas, the fries are frozen, but those burgers…mmm-mmm!
Riverbend Cellars WINERY
( www.riverbendcellars.com ; 12990 Avenue of the Giants, Myers Flat; 11am-5pm)
For something a bit posh, pull over here. The El Centauro red - named for Pancho Villa -
is an excellent estate-grown blend.
