Willits' most famous resident was the horse Seabiscuit, which grew up here. Ninety-
minute tours operate on Monday, Wednesday and Friday (June to September) at 9:30am;
three-hour tours for eight or more people are available by reservation and there are other
events listed on the website. Reserve-in-advance, docent-led nature tours of the surround-
ing natural area are free.
Skunk Train HISTORIC TRAIN

The depot is on E Commercial St, three blocks east of Hwy 101. Trains run between Wil-
lits and Fort Bragg .
Jackson Demonstration State Forest HIKING
Fifteen miles west of Willits on Hwy 20, the forest offers day-use recreational activities,
including educational hiking trails and mountain-biking. You can also camp here .

Willits Frontier Days & Rodeo RODEO

Dating from 1926, Willits has the oldest continuous rodeo in California, occurring in the
first week in July.
Sleeping
Some of the in-town motels - and there seems to be about a hundred of them - are dumps,
so absolutely check out the room before checking in. Ask about Skunk Train packages.
There are a couple crowded, loud RV parks on the edges of town for only the most desper-
ate campers.
