The craft breweries of the North Coast don't mess around - bold hop profiles, Belgium-
style ales and smooth lagers are regional specialties, and they're produced with style.
Some breweries are better than others, but the following tour makes for an excellent long
weekend of beer tasting in the region.

Held on Labor Day weekend in September, celebrate California's logging history with a

Sleeping

Fort Bragg's lodging is cheaper than Mendocino's, but most of the motels along noisy
Hwy 1 don't have air-conditioning, so you'll hear traffic through your windows. Most
B&Bs do not have TVs and they all include breakfast. The usual chains abound. The best-
