In-Depth Information
At this collective in a converted foundry, you can tour a storefront gallery and meet the
artists - sculptor, potter and painters - in their studios.
Sonoma Valley Museum of Art MUSEUM
( MAP GOOGLE MAP ;
707-939-7862; www.svma.org ; 551 Broadway; adult/family $5/8;
11am-5pm Wed-Sun)
Though this 8000-sq-ft museum presents compelling work by local and international
artists, such as David Hockney, the annual standout is October's Día de los Muertos exhib-
ition.
Bartholomew Park PARK
( GOOGLE MAP ;

10am-6pm)
The top near-town outdoors destination is 375-acre Bartholomew Park, off Castle Rd,
where you can picnic beneath giant oaks and hike two miles of trails, with hilltop vistas to
San Francisco. The Palladian Villa , at the park's entrance, is a re-creation of Count
Haraszthy's original residence, open noon to 3pm, Saturdays and Sundays. There's also a
good winery, independently operated.
Cornerstone Sonoma GARDENS
( MAP GOOGLE MAP ;
707-933-3010; www.cornerstonegardens.com ; 23570 Arnold Dr, Hwy 121;
10am-4pm; )
There's nothing traditional about Cornerstone Gardens, which showcases 25 walk-through
gardens by renowned avant-garde landscape designers who explore the intersection of art
and nature. Let the kids run free while you explore top-notch garden shops, taste wine, and
gather information from the onsite Sonoma Valley Visitors Bureau; there's also a good, if
pricy, on-site cafe. Look for the enormous blue Adirondack chair at road's edge.
We especially love Pamela Burton's 'Earth Walk,' which descends into the ground; and
Planet Horticulture's 'Rise,' which exaggerates space.
