When required,
these tours cost $7, and entry is $10 per car year-round. From the ranger station it's a 3- to
5-mile round-trip hike on sand, and a visit takes two to three hours. No dogs are allowed
on-site, and visitors aren't permitted for the first two weeks of December.
There's another, more convenient viewing site further south in Piedras Blancas.
