Indian fare. There's a cozy casual dining room and an outdoor patio for warm days, and
folks from miles around adore its sizzling chicken tikka platter.
Six miles east of Olema on Sir Francis Drake Blvd, Samuel P Taylor State Park (
415-488-9897; www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=469 ; parking $8, tent & RV sites $35, cabin $100) has
beautiful, secluded campsites in redwood groves and a coveted handful of new five-person
cabins with electricity and wood stoves. The park's also located on the paved Cross Marin
Trail , with miles of creekside landscape to explore along a former railroad grade.
Getting There & Around
Golden Gate Ferry ( 415-455-2000; www.goldengateferry.org ) runs a daily ferry service
($9.50, 50 minutes) from the Ferry Building in San Francisco to Sir Francis Drake Blvd in
Larkspur, directly east of Hwy 101. You can take bicycles on the ferry.
San Rafael
The oldest and largest town in Marin, San Rafael is slightly less upscale than most of its
neighbors but doesn't lack atmosphere. It's a common stop for travelers on their way to
Point Reyes. Just north of San Rafael, Lucas Valley Rd heads west to Point Reyes Station,
passing George Lucas' Skywalker Ranch. Fourth St, San Rafael's main drag, is lined with
cafes and shops. If you follow it west out of downtown San Rafael, it meets Sir Francis
Drake Blvd and continues west to the coast.
