Sam's has been slinging seafood and burgers since 1920, and though the entrance looks
like a shambling little shack, the area out back has unbeatable views. On a warm after-
noon, you can't beat a cocktail or a tasty plate of sautéed prawns on the deck.
Caprice AMERICAN
( MAP GOOGLE MAP ; 415-435-3400; www.thecaprice.com ; 2000 Paradise Dr; mains $17-58;
5-10pm Tue-Sun, plus 11am-3pm Sun)
Splurge-worthy and romantic, book a table here at sunset for riveting views of Angel Is-
land, the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco. Caprice mostly features seafood, though
other standouts include the artichoke bisque and the filet mignon. Take a peek at the fire-
place downstairs - it's constructed into the coast bedrock. A three-course midweek dinner
($30) is easier on the wallet.
