At this nicely updated, mid-century motel, get a deluxe room to enjoy (somewhat) more
contemporary design, flat-screen TVs and DVD players; there's a movie library. Classic
movies play in the lobby nightly. Kudos for the solar water-heating system, xeriscaped
grounds and little green men out front.

At the edge of town, rooms are pretty bland but large and comfy, while the pool is a nice
place to lounge away a dusty day in Death Valley. There's also a small, smoky casino -
hello, Nevada! - for slots, blackjack and roulette, and a kids' arcade.

The simple, cinder-block building and formica tables and chairs aren't much to look at, but
KC's bulging sandwiches - on homemade bread, no less! - garner raves. The T-bird sand-
wich is like a mini-Thanksgiving dinner. Potato salad makes a delish side dish. Pizza menu
too.
