Built partly underground, the stone walls of the park visitors center blend beautifully with
the mountain backdrop, while inside are top-notch displays and audiovisual presentations.

Getting There & Around
There is no public transport to Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. From Palm Springs (1½
hours) take I-10 to Indio, then Hwy 86 south along the Salton Sea and west onto S22.
From LA (three hours) and Orange County (via Temecula) take I-15 south to Hwy 79 to
County Rtes S2 and S22. From San Diego (two hours), I-8 to County Rte S2 is easiest, but
if you want a more scenic ride, take twisty Hwy 79 from I-8 north through Cuyamaca Ran-
cho State Park and into Julian, then head east on Hwy 78.
