In-Depth Information
During the internet bubble of the late '90s, owning a vineyard became the ultimate Silic-
on Valley status symbol. It seemed like a comparatively solid investment - until phyllox-
era insects made a catastrophic comeback and acres of infected vines across the state had
to be dug out from the roots. But disaster brought breakthroughs: winemakers rethought
their approach, using organic and biodynamic methods to keep the soil healthy and pests at
bay.
