Central OB's cheapest option is only a couple of blocks from the ocean; it's a simple but
friendly and fun place reserved for international travelers and educators, with barbecues,
music nights, bonfires and more. Free transfer from airport, bus or train station on arrival.

At the south end of Ocean Beach, wake up to the sound of surf crashing onto the rocky
shore. This low-key 1965 charmer wraps around a flower-bedecked courtyard with small
heated pool. Its 24 breezy rooms are compact, but most have attractive stone and tile bath-
rooms, and some suites have full kitchens. Even if the ocean air occasionally takes its toll
on exterior surfaces, it's hard not to love. Free parking.

Right on Pacific Beach, the Bungalow has a top location, a beach-party atmosphere and is
