Embarcadero & the Waterfront
South and west of the Gaslamp Quarter, San Diego's well-manicured waterfront promen-
ades stretch along Harbor Dr, home to excellent museums of naval and sea life, and are
perfect for strolling or jogging (or watching well-built members of the US Navy doing
same, if that's your thing!).
USS Midway Museum

The permanent home of this giant aircraft carrier (1945-91). On the flight deck, walk right
up to some 25 restored aircraft. Admission includes an audio tour to admiral's war room,
brig and primary flight control.
