Sleeping & Eating
Mostly chain midrange motels and luxury resorts are what you'll find along Pacific Coast
Hwy. The latter include the oceanfront Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel ( 949-240-2000;
www.ritzcarlton.com ; 1 Ritz-Carlton Dr; r from $420; ) , well-positioned for catching sun-
sets at Salt Creek Beach. Doheny State Beach ( 800-444-7275; www.reserveamerica.com ;
25300 Dana Point Harbor Dr; inland/beachfront campsites $35/60) is regularly voted the
county's best campground.
Restaurants around Dana Point Harbor serve straight-off-the-boat seafood. At Dana
Wharf, Turk's ( 949-496-9028; 34683 Golden Lantern St; mains $5-16; 8am-2am, shorter
hours winter) dive bar is so dark it feels like you're drinking while jailed in the brig of a
ship, but never mind. There's plenty of good pub grub (including burgers and fish-and-
chips), Bloody Marys and beers, a mellow crowd and a groovy jukebox.
