To the south, on the border with Orange County, the small Long Beach Airport is con-
venient for Disneyland and is served by Alaska, US Airways and Jet Blue.
BUS
The main bus terminal for Greyhound ( GOOGLE MAP ; 213-629-8401;
www.greyhound.com ; 1716 E 7th St) is in a grimy part of downtown, so avoid arriving after
dark. Take bus 18 to the 7th St subway station or bus 66 to Pershing Square Station, then
hop on the Metro Rail Red Line to Hollywood or Union Station with onward service
around town. Some Greyhound buses go directly to the terminal in Hollywood (1715 N
Cahuenga Blvd).
CAR & MOTORCYCLE
All the major car-rental agencies have branches at area airports. Eagle Rider (
888-600-6020; www.eaglerider.com ; 11860 S La Cienega Blvd, Hawthorne; per day from $99;
9am-5pm) and Route 66 rent Harleys.
TRAIN
Amtrak trains roll into downtown's historic Union Station ( GOOGLE MAP ;
800-872-7245; www.amtrak.com ; 800 N Alameda St) . The Pacific Surfliner travels daily
between San Diego, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo via LA.
Getting Around
TO/FROM THE AIRPORT
All services mentioned below leave from the lower terminal level of LAX. Door-to-door
shuttles, such as those operated by Prime Time ( 800-733-8267; www.primetimeshuttle.com )
and Super Shuttle ( 800-258-3826; www.supershuttle.com ) charge $21, $27 and $16 for
trips to Santa Monica, Hollywood or downtown, respectively.
Curbside dispatchers will be on hand to summon a taxi. The flat rate to downtown LA is
$47, while going to Santa Monica costs $30 to $35, to West Hollywood around $40, to
Hollywood $50 and to Disneyland $90.
LAX FlyAway ( 866-435-9529; www.lawa.org ; one-way $8) buses travel nonstop to down-
town's Union Station ($8, 45 minutes), Van Nuys ($8, 45 minutes), Westwood Village near
UCLA ($10, 30 minutes), and to the Expo Line Light Rail station at La Brea and Exposi-
tion Blvd ($7; 1ΒΌ hours) for connections to South Central, Hollywood and Union Station.
