Orpheum Theatre LIVE MUSIC
( MAP GOOGLE MAP ; 877-677-4386; www.laorpheum.com ; 842 S Broadway)
In the early 20th century, cacophonous Broadway was a glamorous shopping and theater
strip, where megastars such as Charlie Chaplin leapt from limos to attend premieres at lav-
ish movie palaces like this one. The Orpheum was the first to be fully restored. Jam band
Gods, Widespread Panic, and younger phenoms, MGMT, played here recently.
United Artists Theatre LIVE MUSIC, DANCE
( MAP GOOGLE MAP ; 213-623-3233; www.acehotel.com/losangeles/theatre ; 929 S Broadway)
A historic gem of a theater, restored by the Ace Hotel, which curates the calendar as well.
It's homebase for LA's best modern-dance company and stages indie and up-and-coming
bands too.
Greek Theatre LIVE MUSIC

A more intimate version of the Hollywood Bowl, this 5800-seat outdoor amphitheater
tucked into a woodsy hillside of Griffith Park is much beloved for its vibe and variety -
Los Lobos to MGMT to Willie Nelson. Parking is stacked, so plan on a post-show wait.
