Getting There & Away
Ventura is about 30 miles southeast of Santa Barbara via Hwy 101. Amtrak ( GOOGLE MAP
; 800-872-7245; www.amtrak.com ; Harbor Blvd at Figueroa St) operates five daily trains north
to Santa Barbara ($15, 45 minutes) via Carpinteria and south to LA ($24, 2ΒΌ hours).
Amtrak's platform station is unstaffed; buy tickets in advance online or by phone. Vista (
800-438-1112; www.goventura.org ) runs several daily 'Coastal Express' buses between
downtown Ventura and Santa Barbara ($3, 40 to 70 minutes) via Carpinteria; check online
or call for schedules.
Channel Islands National Park
