Ventura Certified Farmers Market MARKET

Over 45 farmers and food vendors show up each week, offering fresh fruits and veget-
ables, homebaked bread and ready-made meals - Mediterranean, Mexican and more.
Another farmers market sets up at midtown's Pacific View Mall from 9am to 1pm on Wed-
nesdays.

At San Buenaventura State Beach, this happy-go-lucky seafood shack vends its own farm-
raised Kumamoto and Pacific oysters and Manila clams. Seat yourself at picnic tables to
shuck 'em raw or cook 'em yourself on barbecue grills. A short menu of tacos, tostadas,
ceviche and salads changes weekly. One-hour parking free.

For seafood any fresher, you'd have to catch it yourself off Ventura pier. Go nuts ordering
off a stalwart menu of sustainably caught seafood, organic regional farm produce and Cali-
fornia wines. Make reservations or turn up at the bar during happy hour (4pm to 6pm
Monday to Friday, 11:30am to 6pm Sunday) for strong cocktails, fried calamari and char-
broiled oysters.
