Over in the East Village, pull up a barstool and order a burger while you watch big-screen
sports TVs, or reserve a table in the contemporary-casual steakhouse to dig into Angus
beef steaks (regrettably not from Hearst Ranch). The outdoor patio is dog-friendly.
Information
Cambria has three distinct parts. In the tourist-choked East Village, antiques shops, art gal-
leries and cafes hug Main St. The newer West Village, along Main St closer to Hwy 1, is
where you'll find the chamber of commerce ( 805-927-3624; www.cambriachamber.org ;
767 Main St; 9am-5pm Mon-Fri, noon-4pm Sat & Sun) . Hotel-lined Moonstone Beach Dr is
west of Hwy 1.
Getting There & Around
From San Luis Obispo, RTA ( 805-541-2228; www.slorta.org ) bus 15 makes a few daily
trips from Morro Bay via Cayucos to Cambria ($2, 35 minutes), stopping along Main St
and Moonstone Beach Dr. Most buses continue north to Hearst Castle.
Cayucos
With its historic storefronts housing antiques shops and eateries, the main drag of amiable,
slow-paced Cayucos recalls an Old West frontier town. Just one block west of Ocean Ave,
surf's up by the pier.
Sights & Activities
Fronting a broad white-sand beach, Cayucos' long wooden pier is popular with fishers. It's
also a sheltered spot for beginner surfers.
