The market at Lodgepole Village is the best stocked in either park, but basic supplies are
also available at the small store in Stony Creek Lodge (closed in winter).
Generals Highway
A handful of campgrounds line the highway and rarely fill up, although space may get
tight on holiday weekends. Those in the Foothills area are best in spring and fall when the
higher elevations are still chilly, but they get hot and buggy in summer. Unless noted, sites
are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Free dispersed camping is possible in the
Giant Sequoia National Monument. Stop by a visitors center or ranger station for details or
a fire permit. Lodgepole Village and Stony Creek Lodge have pay showers.

USFS-operated with 49 comfortable wooded sites, including some right on the creek, and
flush toilets. Smaller Upper Stony Creek campground is across the street and has vault
toilets.
Lodgepole Campground CAMPGROUND

Closest to the Giant Forest area with over 200 closely packed sites and flush toilets; this
place fills quickly because of proximity to Lodgepole Village amenities. A dozen or so
walk-in sites are more private.
Potwisha Campground CAMPGROUND

Also in the Foothills, and blazing in summertime, this campground has decent shade and
swimming spots on the Kaweah River. It's 3 miles north of the Ash Mountain entrance,
with 42 sites and flush toilets.
