With a killer view of Yosemite Falls, the window tables at this casual and elegant contem-
porary steakhouse are a hot commodity. The chefs whip up the best meals in the park, with
flat-iron steak and locally caught mountain trout wooing diners under a rotating display of
nature photographs. Reservations accepted only for groups larger than eight; casual dress
is OK.

Creative and satisfying, the Evergreen's restaurant serves some of the best meals around,
with big and delicious breakfasts, three types of burgers (Black Angus beef, buffalo and
veggie) and dinner choices including dishes like rib-eye steak, grilled venison and braised
seitan. The homey wooden tavern is a perennial favorite for evening cocktails, beers on tap
over a game of pool and live music on select weekends. A general store fills the gaps with
to-go sandwiches, snacks and dreamy gelato.

Beautiful sequoia-painted lamps light this old-fashioned white-tablecloth dining room, and
the Victorian detail makes it an enchanting place to have an upscale (though somewhat
overpriced) meal. 'Tasteful, casual attire' is the rule for dinner dress, and there's a barbe-
cue on the lawn every Saturday during summer.
The Wawona's wide, white porch makes a snazzy destination for evening cocktails, and
listen for veteran pianist Tom Bopp in the lobby.
