Matell et al. (1973) treated their patient with
blood transfusions, heparin, and monovalent
antivenom. Bajaj et al. (1980) treated a presumed
D. typus bite with polyvalent antivenom. Vaughan
and Lobetti (1995) reported a veterinary case per
hemorrhagic diathesis in a dog with subsequent
reversal from monovalent antivenom. Four
communicated cases that have occurred since
2006 are described in the Epidemiology section.
