Plate 4.45 (A and B) Red-necked keel-back ( Rhabdophis subminiatus ), Thailand. Although
there are no fatal cases yet recorded, envenomations by this hazard level 1 natricid may be life
threatening. The pathophysiology of envenoming is identical to that of its congener, R. tigrinus.
There is no monospecific antivenom against this species, but laboratory data suggest paraspecific
protection against this species by anti- R. tigrinus antivenom.
