Plug one end of an Ethernet patch cable into the RJ45 connector on the Bone (see Fig-
ure 5-10 ) and the other end into your home hub/router. The yellow and green link lights on
both ends should begin to flash.

If your router is already configured to run DHCP (Dynamical Host Configuration Pro-
tocol), it will automatically assign an IP address to the Bone.
WARNING
It might take a minute or two for your router to detect the Bone and assign the IP address.
To find the IP address, open a terminal window and run the ifconfig command:
bone# ifconfig
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr c8:a0:30:b7:f9:6f
