In-Depth Information
That having been said, there are good implementations of JBI out there. However, these do
not always turn out to be the most popular ESBs in production use today, regardless of wheth-
er they are open source or commercial products.
JBI is definitely something worth looking at in an ESB and something you'll benefit from
knowing about. It can be a smart strategy to start building your SOA with free and open source
tools during your investigation period and then graduate to a more robust, performant, and
stable ESB once SOA gains traction in your organization. That means that you'll have at least
one migration effort moving from the pilot to the new platform, and this will be an easier task
if you've stuck with standards.
Time will tell if JBI comes to be viewed as making important enough distinctions that it gains
popularity. Perhaps JBI 2.0 will help it make more inroads.
