Summary
In this chapter, we addressed XML Schema as the foundation of SOA message design. Schem-
as are vitally important with an SOA that makes use of WSDLs for web service interfaces.
Because WSDL uses XML Schema, schemas constitute an important aspect of your service
interface. We saw how to design and use schemas in a variety of ways. We also looked at
various tools, such as XJC and XIG, and how to use them to simplify your web services de-
velopment cycle.
Beginning with the next chapter, we'll examine new tools for XML document processing.
This will get you on solid footing for dealing with message payloads as you build out your
SOA.
