Internet Access
Getting online in Hong Kong - long since fully cabled with broadband - should be a breeze.
Free wi-fi Increasingly available in hotels and public areas, including the airport, public lib-
raries, key cultural and recreational centres, large parks, major MTR stations (eg Central and
Causeway Bay), shopping malls and an increasing number of cafes and bars. You can also
get a free 60-minute PCCW Wi-Fi pass, available at HKTB visitor centres.
PCCW account You can also purchase a PCCW account online or at convenience stores
and PCCW stores and access the internet via any of PCCW's 7000-plus wi-fi hot spots in
Hong Kong. Buy a 3G rechargeable SIM card from the shops of PCCW
( www2.pccwmobile.com ) , SmarTone ( www.smartone.com ) and other service providers.
The card price is similar and can offer phone and data for as little as HK$28 per day.
If you don't have a computer there are a few options where you can log on:

Left Luggage
MTR train and ferry Left-luggage lockers are in major stations, including the Hung Hom
station; the West Tower of the Shun Tak Centre in Sheung Wan, from where the Macau ferry
departs; and the China ferry terminal in Tsim Sha Tsui. Luggage costs between HK$20 and
HK$30 for each hour (depending on the locker size).
Airport The Hong Kong Airport Express station left-luggage office ( 2261 0110; level 3,
Terminal 2; per hr/day HK$12/140; 5.30am-1.30am) charges HK$60 for the first 24
hours and HK$90 for each day thereafter per item. Generally the machines don't use keys
but spit out a numbered ticket when you have deposited your money and closed the door.
You have to punch in this number when you retrieve your bag, so keep it somewhere safe or
write the number down.
Accommodation Most hotels and even some guesthouses and hostels have left-luggage
rooms and will let you leave your gear behind, even if you've already checked out and
won't be staying on your return. There is usually a charge for this service, so be sure to en-
quire first.
