In-Depth Information
Many rooms in the 20-storey annexe also offer spectacular harbour views; in the original
building you'll have to make do with the glorious interiors. There's a top-notch spa and
swimming pool, and
Gaddi's
is one of the best French restaurants in town.
LUXURY HOTEL
HOTEL ICON
HK$2200-4100, ste HK$3000-6500; ; East Tsim Sha Tsui, exit P1)
The rooms at this teaching hotel of a local university are modern and spacious, and the ser-
vice is warm. Icon is a 10-minute walk from the MTR and there's a shuttle service to the
more central parts of Tsim Sha Tsui. Not all rooms have harbour views and children are not
allowed into the terrace lounge, but overall, it's great value for money.
Hotel Icon is within walking distance of the
Science Museum
, the
Hong Kong Museum
of History
and the northern section of the
Tsim Sha Tsui East Promenade
.
SERVICED APARTMENT
CHI RESIDENCES
HK$24,100-60,000; ; Jordan, exit B2)
All 57 rooms (410 sq ft to 900 sq ft) are spick and span which makes up for the lack of
space of the smaller ones. The beds are also surprisingly comfortable and the environment is
quiet, despite the apartments' central location. That said, the wi-fi and the showers could be
more efficient. Enter from Nanking St.
LUXURY HOTEL
MIRA
HK$3200/4500, ste from HK$5000; ; Tsim Sha Tsui, exit B1)
The Mira impresses with colour-themed rooms, designer chairs and a darkened entrance so
cool you'd expect to see a bouncer. The guestroom gadgets aren't too shabby either - a mo-
bile phone for use in Hong Kong, an iPod dock, flat-screen TV…that said, the 'standard
rooms' have low ceilings and thin walls (pray for a quiet neighbour!). Service is inconsistent
though staff are generally helpful.
The Mira is just across Nathan Rd from
Kowloon Park
