block, make a left into the underground walkway, turning left again as you exit.
Mei Ho House was among the first batch of resettlement blocks built to house the 58,000
homeless survivors of a devastating blaze, known commonly as the 'Shek Kip Mei Fire', that
broke out in 1953. As such, it marks the beginning of Hong Kong's public housing policy.

With the exception of the single, all eight rooms here have private bathrooms. Though tiny,
they're reasonably clean with white walls embellished by the whimsical art of a Taiwanese
illustrator. The English-speaking staff are polite and helpful. Guests are given a card key
which they can use to open their rooms and the front door.
