When big trade fairs come to town, accommodation in Wan Chai, Causeway Bay and
Tsim Sha Tsui is very tight and prices rocket. Check exact dates at
January, March to early May (trade-fair season and Labour Day holiday)

Booking a room is not essential outside peak periods, but during the shoulder and low
seasons, you can get discounts of up to 50% off daily rates if you book online, through
a travel agent or with the
Hong Kong Hotels Association

centres on level 5 of the airport.
Taxes
Most midrange and top-end hotels and a small number of budget places add 10% ser-
