SLEEPING IN TAIPA & COLOANE
Macau Peninsula has the greatest range of accommodation that is close to the major
sights. Lodging on the islands comprises big casino hotels or reasonably priced op-
tions that are a little out of the way.

This government-run, beachside hostel is excellent value, but conditions apply.
You'll need to book three months in advance and own an International Youth Card, In-
ternational Youth Hostel Card or similar. It's closed to tourists in July and August.

Similar deal as the Cheoc Van youth hostel, but with more beds and recreation
space. It's 400m uphill from the beach on Rua de Hác Sá Long Chao Kok. Showers
and toilets are shared, though its website says otherwise.

An old-fashioned hotel sandwiched between the Galaxy casino and a river. Service
can be cavalier but the rooms are clean and relatively large. If you book online, you get
wi-fi and the minibar for free. Otherwise, there's no wi-fi and you have to pay to use
the minibar. Rooms facing the Galaxy have surreal views, especially at night.

The most tasteful of the casino hotels on the Cotai Strip, the Grand Hyatt is part of
the City of Dreams complex. The massive rooms come with glass-and-marble
showers, bath-tubs and a full battery of technology.
